Activities to encourage positive wellbeing

Varied, meaningful activities

The entertainment programme sets the home apart from other homes we considered. The dedicated entertainment staff do a great job of getting the residents involved in different activities and keeping them moving and engaging in something other than just sitting and watching TV. Overall, the staff all work hard and are friendly.”

LT
At The New Lodge, our wellbeing team is dedicated to supporting residents in living active, fulfilling lives. We provide a wide range of meaningful activities designed to promote positive wellbeing, encourage social interaction, and add purpose to each day.

Residents are also supported to spend time outside the home with family and friends whenever possible.

Our dedicated wellbeing facilitators deliver a diverse programme of stimulating activities throughout the week.

These include:

Live entertainment from singers and performers
Arts and crafts sessions
Baking groups and gardening activities
Gentle physical activities such as bowls and armchair exercises
Quizzes and games
Outings to museums, local attractions, parks, pubs, farms, and the cinema

Activities are offered in both group settings and on a one-to-one basis, ensuring all residents can participate in a way that suits them.

Encouraging Personal Hobbies

We recognise the importance of maintaining personal interests and routines. Residents are encouraged to continue enjoying their hobbies, whether that includes knitting, painting, sketching, jigsaw puzzles, board games, crosswords, or simply relaxing with a book or newspaper.

Our team is always on hand to provide support and ensure each resident can continue to enjoy the activities that bring them comfort and enjoyment.

Building Strong Local Links

We are proud of our strong connections within the local community, which enhance the lives of our residents. Highlights include:

  • Monthly visits from Boogie Beats nursery children, bringing music, movement, and storytelling
  • Weekly sessions from Derby County Community Trust, providing engaging armchair exercise programmes
  • Fortnightly visits from our professional hairdresser, allowing residents to enjoy salon services onsite
